I think Battery has 2 forms of cooling, depending what it needs, 1 I think is blower mode without aircon pump working (you will just hear a faint blower noise coming from rear of Zoe) - if that not good enough to cool traction battery cells then the aircon pump will kick in and cool the batteries (say when the car is being charged on a fast charger to stop them overheating).
I think the Ze40 & ZE50 have battery heating, but almost sure done by PTC electrical heating and not A/C heat pump (ZE20 just has blanking plate at back of BCB box under the bonnet for ones sold in mild countries)

Yes ZE50 will both cool and heat the battery. It heats to protect from extreme cold damaging the pack, not to improve range (not efficient to do so)

Nick Bull, actually it is doing it by itself to keep the battery pack above some threshold. And if you program a departure time it will adjust and time the preheating of both battery pack and cabin to optimise range.
